Tim Cotterill , Frogman [Biography]

Tim Cotterill , Frogman

Tim Cotterill captures endearing creatures, primarily frogs, in whimsical poses - a style with roots deep in the countryside of his boyhood England.
Born in Leicester in 1950, he left school at the age of fifteen to complete an engineering apprenticeship. Fascinated with metalworking, Tim created sculptures of animals over the years and following his emigration to California in 1990, his first bronze frog was formed in 1991. Having solely devoted himself to his unique sculptures, Tim Cotterill has grown from strength to strength since the beginning of the Frogman journey, and is now the biggest-selling Bronze Sculptor in the world.

A range of admirers and collectors are consistently intrigued by the charm of the playful creatures which are enhanced by their bright patinas and individual characteristics. Celebrity collectors include David Hasslehoff, Michelle Pfeiffer, Whoopi Goldberg and Muhammad Ali's wife. With Tim’s work represented in fine art galleries and exhibitions world-wide, collectors have an appreciation of his passion, creativity and craftsmanship. Tim discusses his sculptures as being the result of his “passion and enthusiasm for life, art design, fun, joy and love of nature.”

The exclusive bronze sculptures are made using a lost-wax technique which was invented thousands of years ago by the Egyptians. Each sculpture is finished with a hand-applied chemical patina, whereby a variety of chemicals, colourful pigments and dyes are combined with high temperatures to achieve the myriad of colours, effects and features that are the distinguishing feature of Frogman sculptures.

Each piece features both Tim's signature and the limited edition number of the individual sculpture. With each sculpture purchased you will be issued with an official Frogman certificate of authenticity. Please enquire with one of our Art Consultants for further information.
